š„ Farmhouse Fire Shrub Chicken Biryani š„
- 3-4 TBS Farmhouse Fire Shrub
- 1 lb chicken
- 1 TBS canola oil
- 1 medium onion sliced
- 1 tsp garlicĀ
- 1ā2 tsp gingerĀ
- 2 (3 oz) cans diced tomatoes
- 1ā2 C. slivered toasted almonds or pistachiosĀ
- 1ā2 C. yogurt
- 1ā4 tsp chili powder
- 2 whole cloves
- 1ā2 tsp cardamom powder
- 1ā2 tsp black peppercorns
- 1ā4 tsp cumin powder
- 1ā2 tsp coriander powder
- 1ā2 tsp garam masala
- 1ā2 tsp curry powder
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 TBS olive oilĀ
- 1 tsp honeyĀ
- Salt to tasteĀ
- 1 TBS fresh cilantro
- 3 C. basmati or jasmine rice
- 4 C. water
- Extra fresh or powder turmeric for color
Directions:
1. Cook rice and water in rice cooker or stovetop according to directions until nice and fluffy.
2. Fry onions in oil until golden brown.
3. Add ginger and garlic and cook for a few minutes.
4. Add chili powder, cloves, cardamom, pepper corns, cumin, curry, garam masala, coriander, cinnamon stick, bay leaf, yogurt, almonds and tomatoes.
6. Once cooked down add meat and saute until meat is done and add water or broth if more moisture is needed.Ā
7. Layer rice and meat mixture. Salt to taste.
8. Put in oven at 350°F for 20 minutes.
9. Once finished, mix turmeric, olive oil, honey and Farmhouse Fire and drizzle over rice. Garnish with cilantro, saffron or safflower and serve!
